Our Services

 

 

The Village Department of Public Works perform many services.  Some of the most important services are listed below with a brief description.

Vehicle Maintenance   

  • All Village owned Highway and Fire equipment is serviced and maintained by D.P.W. employees at the Piermont D.P.W. Garage. Major repairs are done by private vendors.

Street and Sidewalk Repair

  • A total of 5.85 centerline miles of village roads and 3.31 miles of sidewalk are maintained by D.P.W. employees.

Parks Maintenance  

  • D.P.W. employees maintain (9) parks within the village.

Storm Drain Maintenance  

  • A total of 197 catch basins are maintained by D.P.W. employees. The Village also contracts for annual catch basin cleaning work to outside contractors.

Leaf Pickup

  • D.P.W. employees pick up on the average 598 yards of both loose and bagged leaves annually.

Snow Plowing 

  • A total of 5.85 centerline miles of village roads and 3.31 of sidewalks are maintained during the winter months.

Trash and Rubbish Pickup   

  • D.P.W. employees pickup an average of 200 tons of rubbish, 10 tons of metal and 38 tons of brush annually.

Street Cleaning

  • Street Sweeping on primary roads is done weekly and secondary roads are swept bi-weekly during the months March thru November.

Building Maintenance 

  • D.P.W. employees maintain the Village Hall, D.P.W. Garage, Community Center, Goswick Pavillion and the Firehouse.

Garbage Pickup & Removal

  • D.P.W. employees pick up an average of 825 tons of household garbage annually.
